World Eaters

With the bitz needed to build my legion flying in from various Eastern European countries I thought I'd share some pictures of the models I've built so far.
Here is a Beserker built from skullcrusher, grey knight, CSM, and dark angel bitz.  All my actual berserkers will have helmets from the skull crushers to show their elite status.  The left shoulder pad needs to be replaced by a 12th legion specific pad but other than that he is complete.
This mother trucker is the heavy weapons trooper for a khorne marked CSM squad.  This squad will be basically fire support and objective campers.  I really like this marine.  His pose turned out exactly how I wanted.  "That one.  BRING it DOWN!"  All the non-Beserker CSM in the army will have the less fancy plastic Beserker head.  He also has robot legs from the ironhands upgrade kit, a dark angel arm, and a grey knight hand.  His lascannon is from the chaos havocs kit.

What have y'all got?

Recording Points

Starting on monday the 14th of October there will be a weekly score sheet posted on the back wall to record league games on.  Follow the instructions on the sheet and record your games using hash marks.  To score painting points show the models unpainted first to either Nates or Shane and then again once the model has been completed.  Each week on Sunday the league points on this blog will be updated.  Everybody better get started.  Suitcase only cares about the double U.

Why is your army in Sector War 144

The veil of warp storms has been lifted and the unknown awaits in sector 144.  The question we all have to answer is what brings our armies to the unclaimed wilderness of 144.  Below I'll discuss some options folks could select as their army's reason for being here.

1.  Imperial Crusade Fleet
With a possible hundreds of worlds within the sector, many habitable, the Imperium of Man has dispatched a modest crusade fleet to claim the sector for itself.  While the fleet will include many explorers and catalogers it will also include war formations intend to destroy any opposition to the crusade fleet and retake worlds previously owing imperial allegiance.  Other wrinkles might be your imperial force might have joined the crusade fleet to complete some objective for their own.  Perhaps a space marine chapter used to have an outpost on one of the multitude of worlds lost in the storms six millennium ago and are here to see what has happened to the post.   Perhaps an imperial force has been co opted by the inquisition to recover some relic or some such.  Perhaps their mission is secret and known only to themselves.

For the non imperials the crusade fleet might be your army's reason for being there as well.  Perhaps Dark Eldar Corsairs seek to destroy the crusade fleet while it is isolated from outside aid.  Perhaps a Hive fleet Tendril has been stalking it since it was detected.  Perhaps a mass translation of ships out of warp has worn thin the fabric of reality in an already destabilized zone and a massive daemon incursion is about to take place.

2.  Looters
Xenos, Chaos, and Imperial alike by be in sector 144 for this purpose.  Artefacts taken from worlds once embroiled in the warp can be valuable, let alone the possibility of riches to be taken from the Imperial worlds cut off and unsupported by outside help.

3.  Locals
The planets of 144 weren't all uninhabited when the warp storms commenced.  Imperial worlds, Necron Tomb Worlds, Tyranid Hive Fleets, Ork worlds,  entire Space Marine chapters, and more could have been caught up in the storms.  Are these forces still loyal to their home factions, or have the last six thousand years of forced separation made them value their autonomy too much?

4.  Lost
Funny thing about warp storms, they don't follow any of the rules of physics.  A warp disturbance in sector 144 might have been in two places at once, and the unwary, unlucky, or the uninitiated might have found themselves flung thousands if not millions of light years off course into an unknown sector filled with stranger stars when the storm dissipated.  This lost mechanic is mostly intended to give the Tau a way to be in sector, but is perfectly suitable to other Xenos, Imperial, or Chaos armies as well.

So those are the basic story hooks to get your army into the war.  If you have your own idea, GREAT, you certainly don't have to use any of these four to get your army involved.  The storyline for Sector War 144 is very much a sandbox to be created by everyone involved.

Point Scoring Opportunities

Despoiler Points
In order to earn any league points from a game you must use your assigned league army as your primary detachment.

3pts.....Win a game of Warhammer 40k against another member of the league.  You must complete all turns of the game unless a player concedes.  If a player concedes before three full game turns have been played no one scores any league points for that game.  Game must be played a points level at least equal to current month's point level.

2pts.....Lose a game of Warhammer 40k against another member of the league. You must complete all turns of the game unless a player concedes.  If a player concedes before three full game turns have been played no one scores any league points for that game.  Game must be played a points level at least equal to current month's point level.

Field Marshal Points
Remember that in order to receive hobby points for a model it must be show to Kettil or one of the Nates at a state of no more than primed.  The model sizes are show as a guide and if an individual model seems to defy the size comparison an individual points value can be worked out. In order to receive Field Marshal points a model painted must be either from your league assigned army or a model that could be fielded in an allied detachment for your league army.

1pt.....For each painted model on a 25mm base.

3pts.....For each painted model on a 40mm, 50mm, bike, or calvary base.

5pts.....For each painted light vehicle.  This would include dreadnoughts, warwalkers, vipers, piranhas, killa kans, venoms, ect.

7pts.....For each painted line vehicle.   This would include most dedicate transports, main battle tanks, and small flyers (ork flyers, Storm Talons ects).

9pts.....For each painted Large vehicle.  Generally speaking these are the $70 and up vehicle kits.  Land raiders, Valkyries, Riptides, Wraith Knights, and monoliths.

+2pts.....You get an additional 2 points on top of the model's size points earned if the model in question is an HQ choice.  This represents the fact that generally people spend more time on an HQ model and the model in question has more detail.  This counts only for the HQ model itself, models taken as part of a retinue or bodyguard do not count.  For example a company HQ squad for IG would be worth 7pts (One point each for each model, then additional two points for the actual officer model).

Scribe Points
Additional to all that stuff we had the idea of doing a blog that we could each post stories and battle reports to if we wanted to.  Like all parts of a participation league this would give points but isn't required.  These points could be either considered hobby points for field marshal, points that only count for overall, or it's own category.

1pts.....Basic story, hobby, or background piece.  At least 100 words no more than 500.  Repeat content will not be scored.

2pts.....In Depth background, hobby, or story piece.  Anything longer than 500 words.  Repeat content will not be scored.

2pts.....Basic battle report.  A turn by turn recap of a league member on league member battle.  Must include army lists.  Repeat content will not be scored.

3pts.....In Depth battle report.  A turn by turn recap of a league member on league member battle written as a story.  Must still include army lists but the army lists do not have to be presented in a story format (phew right?).  Repeat content will not be scored.

+1pt.....One to four unique pictures added to the entry to enhance it.

+2pts.....Five or more pictures added to the entry to enhance it.
